Laura is the founder of ZeroWaste Latvija, a movement that started three years ago, simply as a facebook page and then a facebook group, which up until now counts 7000 members... They like the idea of “a movement”, because they think a movement can create true, meaningful change.
In total, one third of the food produced worldwide is thrown away. In Germany, this amounts to around 18 million tonnes per year, some of which is still suitable for consumption. That's quite a lot and quite crazy — but what can we do about it?

News from a plastic-free world
All these environmental catastrophes, as well as social pressure by the people, impel policy-makers to consider the environment in political decisions. Whereas 50 years ago, governments were highly motivated to increase plastic production for economic benefit, nowadays politicians have become increasingly skeptical about the organic polymer. Let us have a look which regions are trailblazing the trend of phasing out plastic bags and which ones are about to jump on the bandwagon…
